2017 Cabernet Sauvignon - Red Mountain
Tasting Notes
We produced three different Cabernet Sauvignons in 2017; Margaret’s Vineyard Cab, Champoux Cab, and our current release of Red Mountain Cab. This Cab is special for a couple of reasons. First, we blended wine from two fantastic vineyards to create this beautiful wine, old vine Klipsun Vineyard Cab (planted in 1984) and Quintessence Vineyard Cab. The old Cab vines at Klipsun Vineyard have since been pulled out so this is the last vintage that we will produce. The Quintessence Cab is clone 169, one of our favorite clones of Cab. Big, rich and tasty, this wine shows classic Red Mountain flavors and aromas of dark cherry and oak spice. Aged for 22 months in 80% new French oak and 20% once-used French oak, it drinks well now but can age for 10+ years.
