2019 Chardonnay Reserve
Tasting Notes
Some of the world’s most notable Chardonnay is grown in the Burgundy region of France highlighted by the small villages of Chablis, Montrachet, and Meursault. The vines producing Chardonnay in each of these villages were originally from nurseries in Dijon, the capital city of Burgundy. Cuttings from each of these village’s vines were sent to the United States and classified as the Dijon Clone of Chardonnay. This is the clone planted in Stillwater Creek Vineyard, whose flavors remind us of Burgundian-style Chardonnay. Fresh flavors of pear and apple are enhanced by hints of butter and creamy oak spice on the finish making this wine super-approachable favorite. Barrel aged in 20% new oak (the “special magical and mystical” barrels hand-made by Le Grange Cooperage of Cognac, France), and 80% used French oak for eleven months. We hope you like this as much as we do!
