2018 Champoux Vineyard Right Bank
93 points | James Suckling
Tasting Notes
This vintage of Champoux Right Bank features 91% Merlot (planted in 1998) and 9% Cabernet Franc (Planted in 2000). The term “Right Bank” is a reference to the vineyards of Bordeaux France located on the right bank of the Gironde River as it flows to the Atlantic ocean. Historic vineyard regions like Pomerol, St. Emilion, and Fronsac feature Chateaus making wines that are predominately Merlot often blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. Our 2018 Champoux Right Bank was aged in 60% new French oak and 40% once used French oak for twenty-one months. This wine reveals flavors and aromas of dark cherry and oak spice, all enhanced by a lengthy finish. To be enjoyed tonight or in ten years. Cin Cin!
