2018 Petit Verdot
Tasting Notes
John was not planning on making a Petit Verdot for 2018, but after tasting through the wines during blending trials he decided the Petit Verdot deserved it’s own bottle. Petit Verdot is always the last of the grapes to be picked each harvest. The berries are tiny and have thick skins providing very dark color and dark fruit flavors. The addition of 25% Cabernet Sauvignon gives this wine a smooth finish. JM’s 2020 Petit Verdot was barrel aged in 80% new French oak providing a silkiness to the texture of the wine. If you like to age your red wines, this vintage can lay down for over ten years, probably up to twenty, though we like it right now! With black fruit and mocha aromas and flavors, the Petit Verdot should pair well with hearty dishes like roasted duck, your favorite steak, or a portobello mushroom burger. We made 217 cases of this wine. Cheers!
