2019 Longevity
Tasting Notes
Everyone wants more Longevity! This wine’s name offers many connotations. People share JM’s Longevity as birthday gifts, wedding gifts, and anniversary gifts. It works well for pretty much any occasion celebrating long term desires. John made his first Bordeaux-style blend in 2000 and, with the help of a friend, named it Columbia Valley Cuvée (Columbia Valley to represent where the vineyards were located, and Cuvée, a French term for premium blend). We liked the name, but when in 2007 another close friend suggested we name a wine Longevity, we updated Columbia Valley Cuvée to Longevity. That wine scored 94 points with Wine Spectator Magazine and was featured as one of the best wines of the edition. The 2019 Longevity features 53% Cabernet Sauvignon from The Benches “Stilleto” block (the fruit from this block is exclusively sourced by JM Cellars), 40% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, both sourced from Stillwater Creek Vineyard. The aromas and flavors in this wine remind us of a classic left bank, Bordeaux style blend without the classic left bank, Bordeaux pricing ($931/bottle for the 2019 Chateau Lafite Rothschild). We aged this wine for 22 months in 80% new French oak. Only 363 cases were produced. Live Long and Prosper!
