2019 Syrah (Columbia Valley)
Tasting Notes
This wine highlights two impressive and historic Washington State vineyards: Champoux Vineyard and Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. Champoux Vineyard has two acres of Syrah planted. Planted in 1998, Champoux’s limited Syrah is contracted exclusively to JM Cellars. Ciel du Cheval planted Syrah in 1998 as well (clone 174, John’s favorite). We believe this is the only Syrah ever created by blending fruit from these exceptional vineyards (co-fermented with a touch of Stillwater Creek Vineyard Viognier). JM’s 2019 Columbia Valley Syrah shows characteristics we strive to offer; a smooth, rich, dark wine that also pairs well with food (think savory roasted meats and vegetables). Aged for 15 months on 50% new French oak, it drinks well now (tonight!) or can be cellared for 10 + years. Cin Cin!
