Tasting Notes

John’s amphora program continues to bring us exciting expressions of some of his favorite grapes. Spanish Grenache, made in an Italian terracotta clay amphora, was the inspiration for John’s first amphora wine and the 2023 Grenache Amphora dazzles with lush, fruit-forward aromatics and flavors of raspberry, cherry. Brilliant minerality and well-balanced acidity are preserved during the wine’s time in this old-world vessel.

Shaw Ridge Grenache thrives where other grapes might struggle and we couldn’t be happier than when John has the opportunity to make the climb up to visit this dramatic thirty-six degree slope of Red Mountain- because he always shares beautiful pictures and video updates and it feels like we are right there with him!

Delicious on its own or paired with Mediterranean inspired cuisine, fresh tomato dishes, salads, and poultry.
