2010 Margaret's Vineyard Estate Red

We planted Margaret’s Vineyard in 2007 just above Seven Hills Vineyard in the Walla Walla AVA. Our first vintage of wine off these vines was harvested in 2009. We consider the 2009 vintage to be a true expression of Margaret’s Vineyard as it was a blend of the entire crop we harvested from our vines that year. In 2010 John decided, for several reasons, to change the blend. JM’s 2010 Margaret’s Vineyard Estate Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (44%), Merlot (20%), Malbec (17%), Petit Verdot (11%), and Cabernet Franc (8%). There is no Carménère in the wine because unfortunately deer ate almost all of our Carménère when it ripened.

We barrel aged this wine for 22 months in 70% new French oak. The wine is soft, juicy and showing great balance with a lingering finish. The 2009 Margaret’s seemed to be a favorite at the tasting room for its early approachability and full fruit flavors. We anticipate the 2010 Margaret’s to find an even more passionate following. Enjoy!
