2018 Malbec
Tasting Notes
Malbec is a grape with plenty of personality. It was originally planted as one of the six grape varietals of Bordeaux. In the early 1800s the French sold Malbec plants to Argentinian farmers who adopted Malbec as their national grape. Most of the great Malbecs of Argentina come from high-altitude vineyards at the base of the Andes Mountains.. Our estate vineyard is 1,200 feet in elevation with beautiful ancient soils on a bedrock of fractured basalt. Margaret’s vineyard is a site with warm days and cool nights which translates to super-ripe grapes that have maintained great acidity. John aged the 2018 Malbec in 80% new French oak and 20% once used French oak for twenty-four months. This full-bodied wine is about as dark as a red wine can be, showing spicy flavors and aromas with well-balanced acidity. We look forward to sharing it with you!
