2019 Nietos
Tasting Notes
Nietos has been and will always be a tribute to our long-time partners in the winery, Mike and Jackie Bezos. Nietos, meaning grandchildren in Spanish, was named to honor their eleven grandchildren. Mike and Jackie have been the most generous partners with their time, wisdom, support and friendship. For Christmas 2020, they informed Peggy and John that after 13 years of partnership, they were gifting their ownership in JM Cellars back to John and Peggy. Peggy and John were deeply touched by their thoughtful, generous and completely unexpected gift.
The wine is a blend of 57% Syrah, and 43% Mourvèdre from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, aged for twenty months in 50% new French oak and 50% once used French oak. Rich, dark, and full of explosive aromas and flavors, this may be the best Nietos produced to date. Less than 100 cases remain after allocation.
