2019 Malbec
Tasting Notes
Our Malbec block in Margaret’s Vineyard is only an acre and a half, planted in rich, fertile soils, 1,200 feet above the Walla Walla Valley. This growing site creates an inky black Malbec, showing flavors and aromas of blackberry, cherry and plum, layered with subtle oak spice, and soft tannins (reminiscent of some Argentinian Malbecs). Our 2017 Malbec scored 94 points by Jeb Dunnuck, the highest scored Washington State Malbec for that vintage. His last line was simply, “It’s a beautiful Malbec”. The 2019 vintage is 100% Malbec (using the same vineyard and same block as the 2017) and was aged for 22 months in 70% new French oak. ¡Que te diviertas! (Argentinian Spanish for “Have fun!”).
