2020 Carménère
NEW RELEASE!
Tasting Notes
Carmenérè is a unique grape, originating in Bordeaux, but currently grown primarily in Chile. JM’s 2020 vintage is a blend of Margaret’s Vineyard Carmenérè , Seven Hills Carmenérè and 15% Margaret’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cab offered additional structure to the wine without over-shadowing the rich, dark fruit aromas and flavors - with classic hints of pepper - traditionally found in Carmenérè . Aged for 18 months in 60% new French oak, this wine drinks beautifully now but should age well for 10+ years. Wine club members Steve and Jennifer Hurban stopped by our Maltby tasting room recently and shared a magnum of JM Cellars’ 2007 Carmenérè with John and the production team. Even after 16 years, the wine was fresh and delicious; thanks to Steve and Jennifer!
