Tasting Notes
The name Las Piedras is Spanish for “the stones”. Margaret’s Vineyard is located on a north slope, 1,200 feet above the valley floor in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The southwest corner of the vineyard is essentially all fractured basalt with very little topsoil. We planted Syrah and Mourvèdre in this location, and the calcium carbonate found in the fractured basalt translates into a beautiful minerality in the wine. This wine is jammy and juicy, with flavors of dark fruit and a long, silky smooth finish. Only 2 cases remain after allocation.
