One of the most anticipated arrivals of the season is the ‘22 Bourbon Barrel Cab. John was so pleased with his first small vintage of bourbon barrel Cab that he decided to continue the project on a larger scale- this time utilizing eight, freshly used, Woodinville Whiskey bourbon barrels. Last fall, eight barrels of 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 12 months in French oak, were selected and transferred to the bourbon barrels. The interiors of the bourbon barrels, still saturated with bourbon and featuring a deeply charred interior, became an ideal environment for the last 10 months of aging of the Margaret’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.  The black cherry and chocolate notes of Cabernet Sauvignon are subtly influenced but not overpowered by the bourbon barrel aging. Caramel and butterscotch meld with a full bodied, approachable tannin structure to create a rich softness and long finish. While we are certain this wine will age beautifully, don’t hesitate to enjoy it now. Rumor has it John will make more!
