2022 Malbec
COMING SOON - NEW RELEASE - AVAILABLE 11/22/2024
Tasting Notes
Malbec was originally planted as one of the six grape varietals of Bordeaux. In the early 1800s, the French sold Malbec vines to Argentinian farmers who adopted Malbec as their national grape. Most of the great Malbecs of Argentina come from high-altitude vineyards at the base of the Andes Mountains.
Our own estate vineyard, Margaret’s Vineyard, sits at 1,200 feet in elevation with beautiful ancient soils on a bedrock of fractured basalt. Days are warm and nights are cool on Margaret’s Vineyard producing perfectly ripened grapes that have maintained great acidity. We give due credit to Mother Nature who drives each harvest, but also acknowledge our incredible vineyard team who skillfully tend our vines through every season. We couldn’t make the wines we do without their tireless efforts.
The 2022 Malbec was aged for twenty-two months in 80% new French oak. The result is a dramatic, full-bodied wine, inky in hue and lush with bramble fruit and plum flavor. Dark chocolate, espresso, and a hint of black pepper round out an elegant finish. Pair with grilled meats, bolognese, and cheesecake, mmm…
