2018 Ancora Imparo

This brand new addition to the JM lineup is 100% Grenache from the Red Mountain vineyard, Ciel du Cheval. A phrase often attributed to Michaelangelo in his 80th year, Ancora Imparo translates into "Yet I Learn", which expressed his continued learnings as an artist. As a winery, we strive to embody this phrase throughout all areas of our business, but especially within our winemaking, using a variety of fermentation techniques to produce our wines. The majority of the Grenache was fermented by utilizing the ancient winemaking method of fermenting in a clay amphora; the remainder was fermented in stainless steel. After fermentation, 40% of the wine was aged in the clay amphora and 60% of it in an oak barrel puncheon. The wines were ultimately blended together resulting in a fruit forward, quaffable red wine with feather light tannins and notes of raspberry and anise.

2017 Bramble Bump Red

Bramble Bump Red is our red table wine made to enjoy now and over the next 5-10 years. A blend of  69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot, this wine shows just as beautifully as it's namesake does! A great and approachable addition to everyone's wine collection, whether connoisseur or those new to wine appreciation.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon - Champoux Vineyard

 

This is the first Cabernet Sauvignon we have made from Champoux Vineyard and it is a beauty! 91% Cab Sauv and 9% Cab Franc, this wine has a gorgeous aroma and an even better set of flavors. The grapes were fermented in a large French oak tank for fifteen days and then drained into French oak barrels to finish off the fermentation giving the wine a smooth and silky mouthfeel. We barrel aged the wine for two years before bottling it in July 2019. This Cab is drinking really nicely right now, but if you want to age it for another five to seven years you will be seeing it at it’s best. Collectors can put this wine down for 10+ years without any worry. Less than 25 cases remain after allocation.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon - Margaret's Vineyard

WINE CLUB EXCLUSIVE

NEW RELEASE - AVAILABLE 2/21/2020

Big, bold and ready to drink. This Cabernet Sauvignon is made with 100% of the fruit coming from Margaret’s Vineyard, our estate vineyard in Oregon just twelve miles south of downtown Walla Walla. Our vineyard gets amazing sun exposure and at 1,200 feet of elevation the fruit shows minerality, fruit forward character, and a long finish. Aged in 80% new French oak, the wine is a blend of two unique clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, clone 32 and clone 6. We added a touch of Malbec, nine percent of the total blend, adding to the incredibly inky black/purple color and providing a smooth silky mouthfeel to the wine. Enjoy! Less than 15 cases remain of this wine after allocation.

2017 Champoux Vineyard Right Bank

Our 2016 vintage of this wine earned 92 points with international wine writer James Suckling from Wine Spectator. This year’s blend is 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, but 100% Champoux Vineyard. The wine is named Right Bank because it is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, two of the dominant grape varietals made famous by the “right bank” chateaus of Bordeaux. It shows flavors of dark cherry from the merlot and a wonderful note of green pepper from the Cabernet Franc, exhibiting a smooth and delicious wine. Barrel aged for 18 months in 70% new French oak and 30% once used French oak. Enjoy!

2017 Longevity

We love this blend. Blended and bottled in July of 2019, this Longevity has had enough bottle age to make it a smooth, easy drinking red wine right now. However, as the name states, the wine will also age for a long time - - easily five to seven years, but probably longer. Each year we hear stories of anniversaries, weddings, birthdays and engagements that were toasted with a glass of Longevity! We are always honored to be a part of these special moments. The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc featuring three great vineyards: Champoux Vineyard, The Benches (Wallula Gap Vineyard), and Stillwater Creek Vineyard. This wine truly expresses the fantastic vintage the state of Washington had in 2017. Cheers!

2017 Louisa

The 2017 Louisa is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc made with fruit grown in Margaret’s Vineyard exclusively. This wine shows a classic “right bank” bouquet with subtle flavors of cherry, anise and oak spice. The silky tannins make this a very smooth, easy drinking red wine. Peggy has two suggestions; try drinking this wine slightly chilled (58 degrees) and pair it with triple crème cheese and a crusty baguette. Due to its hint of oak spice flavor, this will also pair well with your Thanksgiving meal. Enjoy!

2017 Malbec

2017 was a hot year and Malbec loves heat. Our Malbec in Margaret’s Vineyard is one of our favorite grapes. Each year we feature the Malbec for its rich dark fruit flavors, the intense dark color it has in the glass and the smooth tannins making this a wine you can drink now, or you can age it for seven to ten years to bring out the flavors of an older wine. John blended 20% Cabernet Sauvignon off of Margaret’s Vineyard and the combined flavors are phenomenal.

2017 Nietos

WINE CLUB EXCLUSIVE

Always a wine club favorite, we make Nietos each year to honor our partners in the winery, Mike and Jackie Bezos. Meaning Grandchildren in Spanish, the Bezos have eleven Nietos of which they are very proud (look for the number eleven on the label). The 2017 Nietos is a blend of 56% Mourvèdre and 44% Syrah and made with fruit sourced exclusively from Stillwater Creek Vineyard. Our tasting team picked out wild spice, pomegranate, plum flavors and aromas and especially noted its lengthy finish. The 2017 Nietos is allocated to wine club only and sold out upon release.

2017 Syrah (Boushey Vineyard)

As always, this wine is a beauty. The previous three vintages have all been 94-point wines, and our 2017 is definitely on par, or perhaps even better. Showing delicious blackberry flavors and aromas fused with those of savory smoked meat, our tasting team found the wine smooth, silky, creamy and again, showing a lengthy finish. Think blackberry cobbler meets Benton’s Smokehouse bacon . Oh yeah!

2017 Syrah (Columbia Valley)

NEW RELEASE - WINE CLUB ONLY

The majority of the Syrah in this wine is from Champoux Vineyard blended with a small portion of Klipsun Vineyard Syrah. These two vineyards represent two of the oldest vineyards in the state and the Syrah is one of our favorites. There is only 2.5 acres of Syrah planted in Champoux Vineyard and we are fortunate to get all of it each year. The vines were planted in 1998 and produce some of the best Syrah we see in Washington. Dark fruit, stone, and a hint of savory make this a fascinating wine that takes your taste buds on a journey to enjoy. Aged only in 50% new oak (a portion of the new oak is Russian oak providing a hint of vanilla sweetness in the wine). Pair this with any meat dish or just drink it with good friends next to a roaring outdoor fire on a cold winter night - very fun! This wine will be sold out upon release.

2017 Tre Fanciulli

NEW RELEASE - AVAILABLE 2/21/2020

Dark fruit character and a softness on the palate highlights this vintage of Tre Fanciulli.  This is always one of our favorite wines to produce, and it always features Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.  The 2017 vintage is 52% Cab, 33% Merlot and 15% Syrah adding a spicy finish to the wine. Aged in 80% new French oak from three different artisan barrel makers, this Tre is very drinkable now, but can easily age for five to seven years or more.  Featured vineyards in this wine are Quintessence Vineyard (Red Mountain), Klipsun Vineyard (Red Mountain), Shaw Vineyard (Red Mountain) and Stillwater Creek Vineyard (The Royal Slope). These are all award-winning vineyards and the fruit is some of the best in the state.  We decided it was time to bring back the original Tre Fanciulli label from our first vintage in 1999; it is one of our all-time favorite labels.
